Instructions for participating in the world's largest poster for Education !

As part of the CGCE conference in April, we want to launch the beginnings of the world's largest poster to display the learning of children across Canada! The poster will be a collection of enlarged digital photographs of posters created by students across the country during Global Action Week. If you and your class would like to be a part of this exciting event, we invite you to post a digital photograph of your finished poster on the CGCE website. Instructions on how to upload photos will be sent to all teachers who register for Global Action Week. In order for us to print and collate the poster photographs in time for the launch at the conference, the digital photos must be posted no later than Tuesday, April 25, 2006 noon.

You are welcome to continue making the posters throughout May, if you are unable to complete this activity by the April deadline. CGCE will be accepting poster uploads on our website until May 31, 2006. We hope to present the world's largest poster to the Prime Minister and Minister for International Cooperation in time for the G8 meeting in July. Please remember to include your original poster in your letter to your MP.

  1. Tell the class they are going to create a poster for the Send My Friends A Teacher campaign. You can get one student to be the cut out model and have the student lie on the construction paper and other students trace the outline of the student's body. Students would then cut along the traced lines. Paste the cutout of the person on a larger piece of paper to represent the form or a teacher.

  2. Students can then use any media to decorate around the teacher. For example, they can make and decorate smaller cut-outs of "pupils" to surround the teacher, or paint the inside of a classroom. Be creative!

  3. Take two digital photographs. One photograph should be of the finished product. The second photograph can be one of your class either making the poster or posing with the poster. Instructions on how to upload pictures will be sent to all teachers who register for Global Action Week. These pictures will form part of our picture gallery on the CGCE website where you and all other students and teachers involved in Global Action Week can view our collective efforts. They will also be used to create the world's largest poster.

Please register online, to get your class/group involved in the global movement. If you are a grade 3-6 classroom, by registering, you can recieve a free hard-copy including all the activities!
